The actual site of The Little House on the Prairie is today, as when Laura lived there with her family, a tranquil and beautiful open prairie setting surrounded by rustling prairie grasses and the stirrings of small prairie animals. |

Close by stand two authentic buildings from the same period. Sunnyside School, moved to the Little House on the Prairie site from its original location a few miles away, is a one-room schoolhouse that was used from 1872-1947. The school holds authentic desks from the 1870's and 1880's and countless charming country school details. The site also features an original turn-of-the-century Post office that served the Wayside, Ks., area until the mid 1970's. |
Visitors are invited to
visit the site from March 22 to October 31st,
Monday-Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sundays 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
Admission is by
donation.
